I am NOT saying don’t have childcare help, or a nanny, or an au pair.  I have 2 nannies (both part time, one is my mom) and I will most likely get an au pair someday (that’s the goal when we have 2+ kids) What I am saying is this: The system is designed to keep your family broken down, separated, and disempowered. You can’t raise a strong independent thinker (as easily) if you’re spending 40 hours a week at work and your child is spending 30+ hours a week in daycare or in public school. The average child spends 17,550 hours in school from the ages of 3-18. For working families, that same child will spend only 15,000 hours with their own family. Most kids spend more time being shaped by institutions than their own families. I don’t want my child raised by the very people who benefit from him being obedient, confused, disconnected, shoved into a box, and too tired to question it. I want him raised by people who love him. Who see him. Who remind him who he is - a child of God. Who protect his mind and heart - not program it. That’s why we built a life around us raising him. Not the state. Not strangers. Not a system. Because God didn’t give me my son just to hand him off to an institution.
