Even if it was reliable - a shoplifter should be still be allowed in stores to purchase things. You can't just stop people from eating. Some people have reasons to steal. This is immoral on so many levels. The law is not morality.

I wonder does this still legally qualify as defamation because I would absolutely sue for the embarrassment alone. You can’t use inferior tech that doesn’t work and blame it on that. Don’t use it if it’s this inaccurate.

Any Shop or venue relying upon inaccurate facial recognition database is the author of their own misfortune. No shop or venue has any defence, if any, if a member of the public is improperly or unlawfully targeted and ejected in serious breach of Article 8 ECHR, DPA 2018 and UK GDPR. Any alleged victim has the potential alleged right to bring an alleged civil claim. Both the shop / venue and the Facial Recognition Company should be jointly pursued.

Mistakes happen. That doesn't mean you abolish the whole system because it isn't 100% flawless; that's just a race to the bottom. We don't get rid of the entire prison system because a tiny percentage are wrongfully incarcerated. Mistakes happen. The important part is how many and how often. But the media jumping on a single occurrence to start fear mongering is irresponsible.

Everytime I go to primark on the self check out it flags me for a random check. I’ve never not been random checked? Is my face flagging something as I have a clean record!
