I feel like every person goes through this early college. I’m 22 and went through the same thing and decided to major in cs because I had a passion for nothing else. Now im a software engineer and make pretty good money for my age. My advice is to pursue something that you can leverage in the job market. Don’t chase after your passion because nobody has a passion when corporate strips your time away. Major in something lucrative

as someone who's 31 here's my advice. I think it's normal you don't know, I work with people who are 60 and they don't know it either. The important thing is don't take things too seriously, your career doesn't define you as a person, it is actually the person you are outside of your career that defines you. Most of the time what you study is not what you'll end up working on. At your job you'll discover things you like, you can explore them, do additional certifications and move laterally to different departments The most important thing is never lose your curiosity, always try and learn new things, paraphrasing Oscar Wilde, "knowing what you want to do limits your potential because it limits your potential". Society sometimes sees people like us as threats and wants to cut our curiosity

When I was 20 I decided not to complete the BS track in physics and got a BA instead. Went to grad school in choral music. Followed by grad school (twice) in speech pathology. I’ve worked in a hospital and 2 universities. Waited tables 5 years. Now I run a small company working from home. Everything I’ve done has contributed to everything else. It was NOT a path I could have ever seen or would have chosen. It’s ok to be unsure and to change your mind. Life is full of surprises!!

raw. anyway I didn't know I would fall in love with medicine until I was knee deep in my Paramedic program. then I got good at it then people started telling me I was good at it then people started asking me for help and advice then people would call my unit specifically for backup and somewhere one day I went from not knowing what field I wanted to even try to just being in love and obsessed. whatever you pick, you'll be happy if you work hard at it and become amazing.

I grew up on a farm, went to school for music, worked as a live sound audio engineer for touring companies and performed in orchestras, went to grad school and switch to theater, I started learning how to sew at 26 and at 31 began managing the costume shop for one of the top ballet companies in the country. You never know what tomorrow is going to bring.
