I always read the handbook. Highlighted and tabbed and ready to stunt on crazy managers. Use to have a mgr who caused uniform issue with any woman she thought was cuter than her. So I started my villain arc as handbook reader extraordinaire

For me it's, "the full version." Sounds like someone's manager is "quoting" the "handbook" and the quotes aren't in the one they were given. 😬😳

that's how I got a bonus when I got my bachelor's degree. my manager and their boss didn't know. handed them the form to sign and brought it to hr. 2k in my check.

I can’t tell you how many times I have to say “per the handbook”. I send them a hard copy to read and ask them to let me know if there are questions. The handbook form states all this as well but they just sign it and never read it.

Girl… story for you. I was hired recently to be the HR mgr for a growing restaurant group. 300 EEs in AZ, CA & NV. They’ve never had an HR pro before. Their handbook was 10 years old. They just opened a location in CA. They fired me saying I don’t like recruitment. I’M TRYING TO MAKE SURE YOU DON’T GET SUED.

I look through our handbook/policies twice a year. HR just loves to update things and not pass it along 😉 The most recent one was an update to our bonus structure 😳 and some interesting verbiage they added.
