Syril lost because he was so full of his pride he never realised how insignificant he truly was. Dedra lost because she was so arrogant and prideful she thought Luthen was a scummy coward who would break. Partagaz lost because he was so prideful about how useful he was, how the ISB was a “healthcare provider” and yet he ended up not being able to stop the rebellion from spreading. Krennic lost because he was so arrogant about his own success that he failed to realise how he’d walked into a trap of sorts. Tarkin lost because he was so prideful about the power of the space station he dreamt about, that it could never fail. Palpatine lost because his pride was so great that he couldn’t see how he’d lost his grasp on Vader. Pride was the death of the empire, and the humble were the real winners who took it all.
