it's more about the sheer ignorance caused by our education system. like it has never even occurred to people that there would be no reason whatsoever for other countries to celebrate America's independence from Britain. part of the issue is that we also co-opt other countries holidays/celebrations that have nothing to do with the US as a country because we're such a melting pot of cultures that cultural celebrations of other countries end up gaining a big foothold here. for example, I live in Boise Idaho and we have a decent population of Basque people, and we have an enormous Basque festival/celebration here even though it doesn't really have anything to do with the US 🤷🏻♀️
