They terrify me. I lived in an apartment building next to a firework store. When we moved in I told my husband that the place was going to go up in flames one of these days, well a year and half later I awoke in the early morning of July 5th 2016 to my husband saying, "Holy shit the firework store is on fire!". We watched the building go up in flames from our second floor window. It was the biggest fireworks show I had ever seen. Eventually the fire trucks show up and we were told to leave the building. They had us gather in the parking lot and the air was filled with smoke and there were fireworks shooting in all directions but it wasn't safe to be outside. I was pregnant at the time and I had a two year old. I ended up getting in my car and I hightailed it out of there. The balcony below me caught fire and the fire charred part of my balcony.

Doing it in neighborhoods is especially inconsiderate… if they’re heart set on fireworks do it outside of residential areas

maybe it's cuz i live in a quiet neighborhood but nyc fireworks are chill..back in California they light up M80s, those sound like literal bombs.
