I mean if she had medical insurance coverage while on the cruise only then they are right. Honestly, this is a loop hole for older people. Just purchase health insurance plans and get “sick” on a cruise and receive care fully covered by your plan while on the cruise. We all should be doing that and have our healthcare fully covered.

Believe me, I totally get it- me and my partner of both were Covid survivors-Puerto Vallarta back to America on private planes- insurance claim it was auto network- we fought for two years and finally, they paid 53K

I have never seen travel insurance cover medical costs. I have seen where they allow you to cancel and credit your payment for the trip based on medical reasons but nothing more.

This sounds bad at first glance but I believe the insurance only covers medical issues incurred ON the cruise. The fact she had to cancel beforehand it’s not covered.. Sucks but it is what it is.

Go to medical on the ship and not on the mainland. I feel bad for them, but the policy is pretty straightforward with what they cover. Notify your personal insurance broker before traveling abroad.

I need to know, was the $45,000 from the Hospital in Japan or from a hospital back in the USA. Because the insurance should only cover the medical while on the vacation. She did cancel the trip that too would cause issues.

I get travel insurance. I had to use it when I was seriously injured. Ins paid 100% of everything. Medicare aid all the medical bills. I do not use cruise travel insurance. I go elsewhere. The insurance paid 100% on an air ambulance plane from one end of the country to my home state.

It’s terrible that happened but they did cover the portion of the cruise they didn’t get to be on. I wouldn’t expect anything off the ship to be covered no matter how it was explained to me.

if she wasn't on the cruise then she wasn't covered by medical. when you sign up it explains this. it will only cover medical once your on the ship and have left port. she did get a refund for the cruise which is what the insurance covers if you cancel your trip.

This is con man stuff. All insurance companies operating in a con environment, medical insurance being the king pin of that con world. AON is a huge risk management company for many industries. 45k is like a cup of coffee to this company but here they collected money from this family and then cut out with their money. Lawsuit should work.
