First time I ever went to KC I immediately went to a BBQ spot from the airport. Most disappointed I’ve ever been. Nothing had seasoning at all. Ribs, tiny bit of smoke flavor. Sausage, ground too much the meat was like mush. Brisket, not a hint of seasoning. It was so bad.

I use my rub on damn near everything, from polled pork and brisket to poultry. I even use it in my burgers. Salt and pepper is strictly for steaks.

The only meat that has a salt and pepper rub in Texas is the brisket. Everything else has complex rubs. KC imo is more about the sauce than the rub.
