When I moved to Mexico, it took me a good year before I realized my landlord was gringo pricing me. It was my Mexican friends that told me I was paying way too much. The Mexican landlords are definitely taking advantage too. Now when I look for a rental homes, buy a car or furniture, I bring one of my Mexican friends. Of course I speak Spanish. Now I’m not sure how you pay Mexican taxes if you’re not earning Mexican wages. I pay US taxes because my wages are US dollars. There is no double taxation. As a black American fleeing racist America, I mind my business. I’m not here to tell people to turn their music down or shit like that. White people do that shit to black people in the US and they call the police on us. As a matter of fact, when I start to see more Americans I move further and further away. I don’t want to hear English when I leave my house🤷🏽♀️

I wish I could apologize for our country and have it be enough. I recently visited areas in Jalisco and it makes me sad that white people want to change it. The culture is beautiful as it is, and the people were amazing, friendly, and vibrant. I’m learning Spanish, and I brought pesos because I was coming to visit YOUR country. I like to experience life as it is, and where it is. Not change it to make me comfortable. I’m sorry everyone isn’t respectful, and they’ve invaded. I’d like to say we aren’t all like that, we aren’t, but enough are that I understand the anger being directed at everyone. 🇲🇽
