It's not Jedi mind tricks, it's balancing the beam. Best deal works for both parties. If either party loses out, it's not a great deal. The skill in making the deal work for both sides, not trying to use sales 'techniques' to dupe the other person. If they aren't keen, you ask why instead of making assumptions that it's for one of two reasons. Any salesman comes out with any of the lines that you've just given, I close the conversation and leave. They are just focused on getting a sale, not having a happy customer.
