That is how you can make a good horse get spooky. My aunt had it happen once to her and her horse wasn’t fully right since. It was a very calm horse.

tail is one the horses most sensitive spots. you could yank in a horse's mane and they'd be ok, but not their tails. that's what I've been told

That horse is an angel and reacted as best as a surprised prey animal could. As someone who is an equestrian I know that more than half the horses at my barn would have reacted way worse, and poor Zeus probably really meant no harm and just got the shock of his life💔

Growing up around horses my whole life even I knew not to do such a thing. Even now as a farrier if I even go around the back end of a horse I always talk to the horse so they can hear me since my hands are full
