I get your point, but I see it differently. When someone interviews me, I’m also interviewing them. I’m not a candidate begging for a spot - I’m a service provider offering value. The interest should go both ways. I don’t fake deep curiosity about a company before I even know if they’re worth my time. If we sign a deal, I’ll dive in fully. Until then, it’s a mutual evaluation, not a performance. I know the game, I just don’t play desperate.

I went to a job interview years ago in Columbus, Ohio. as taught when in high school, dress a step higher than the job requirements. during the interview I was admonished for the way I dressed and was told that I over dressed for the position I was applying for. coming from the South, first impressions were very important. I had to explain to the person interviewing me that it was standard practice to look presentable when interviewing for a position. I didn't want to be part of the company. many years later, in the 20teens, I watched applicants coming in in shorts, flip flops and tank tops to apply for jobs.

If they find anything you lied about in your background check the interview goes out the window so why interview and waste your time just do the background check first then come in if they want you to do the job They want people with experience you have to get trained to do the job everyone had to start by getting trained at some point
