@10newsau: At least 43 people, including 14 children, have been confirmed dead, and at least 27 girls from a summer camp remain missing after flash flooding struck Texas on Friday. The flooding occurred along the Guadalupe River in Kerr County, where most of the bodies were recovered. The 27 children from Camp Mystic, a Christian summer camp along the river, were among those most affected. Kerr County Sheriff Larry Leitha, speaking to the media on Saturday, confirmed, "As of 5:30, we have recovered 43 deceased individuals in Kerr County. Among them are 28 adults and 15 children. Of these, 12 adults and 5 children are still pending identification." "We knew today was going to be that day. Our numbers are constantly changing, and we're continuously working on identification, collaborating with our local partners," he added. The flooding caused waters to rise up to eight metres, on the Guadalupe River in just 45 minutes on Friday, washing away homes, vehicles, and devastating the landscape. Search efforts are ongoing, with helicopters, boats, and drones being used to locate victims and rescue people stranded in trees or at camps isolated by washed-out roads. #texas #texasfloods
