Just saw another person mention that NWS did issue a warning but the state NWS person (?) position and job it was to notify everyone locally, had been DOGE'd and took the early retirement option. It's been vacant since end of April. FDJT and DOGE, and anyone who voted for the budget bill.

Of course the finger pointing is crazy. Trump and co are pointing at Gov Abbott who is pointing to citizens fault. But none of the Republican Party is acknowledging the cut backs in NOAA and NES.

Word up! Hope your point sinks in about paycheck away, a tragedy away from homeless as opposed to billionaire.

You know what a flash flood is 🤷🏻‍♂️you can toss all the numbers you want when people refuse to listen to the warnings not sure what you’re trying to say? You’re obviously not from Texas the way pronounced Bexar🤦🏻‍♂️funny how outsiders know more than the locals 🤷🏻‍♂️

The warnings happen all the time, most folks if they even acknowledge them will stay out of the obvious floodplain and not drive through the water. The warning (not watch, warnings) happened overnight when phones were turned off, and in that area a lot of places have no cell service and even weather radio is spotty.

they were worn about floods, they were not adequately warned in time about a flash flood reaching well over 20 ft in the span of 40 minutes. oh that also happened after midnight when everyone is asleep. it's really weird how people who haven't experienced flash floods or floods in general like to talk about how to combat it

I just saw a video that claimed that the person whose job it was to send out the warnings took the early retirement payout.

So it’s not called Bexar the way you pronounce it is bear. I don’t know why it’s spelled Bexar though. 🤷🏽

We get flood warnings all the time. The problem is 99% of the time its nothing so ppl ignore it or assume its not going to be as bad. People were warned they just didn’t listen because they have been conditioned to ignore it over decades.

State-Level Decisions: The $126 million in state budget cuts to disaster preparedness in 2023-2024, as highlighted on X, reflect a Republican-led Texas legislature’s focus on reducing spending, which critics argue left communities like Kerr County vulnerable to flooding in 2025. These cuts indirectly strained federal resources like FEMA by increasing reliance on federal aid.

A few weeks ago a dozen people drowned in San Antonio while the Texas national guard stood in front of the Alamo to keep it safe from nonviolent protestors. (side note: Bexar is pronounced BEAR county)

Yeah, there’s gonna be a lot more people to perish from weather because of these cuts they cut out the people who have been there the longest and had the most experience. This is the same thing as what was going on with the FAA. In the warning that went out from what I understand, said that they were gonna get up to 6 inches of rain which is not a big deal from what I understand over 30 inches of rain fell, which hasn’t happened in 100 years had we had the resources people would have known what to expect They would’ve evacuated those camps. There were so many heroes that were trying to save those kids not just the kids but the other people it’s not just the one camp.
