Behavior analyst here! It takes a couple of weeks on average to teach a replacement behavior. It takes months if not years to undo conditioned behaviors. My heart is with you ❤️❤️

There is not much support from the government. They should be paying for all these cost. I am also a parent in your situation. File for SSI and create a trust. Potentially the government caused our situation…. Use the trust to create their future ❤️

I am a special education teacher who has spent much of my career working with students on the spectrum. Therapy is the backbone of what helps students on the spectrum in more ways that I can express. Many of these therapies are provided in the school setting but can be billed to Medicaide. So many students are going to lose services because of this bill and much is going to fall onto the teachers who have knowledge of the services the therapist provides but we are not the experts, not the trained therapists. This is going to have such a devastating ripple effect on our students. My heart goes out to you and Mack.
