It’s hard for people that are not puertorrican to understand our close family like relationship with the diaspora and how we are one extended voice and people fused together by love for a land, history, blood, circumstance, music, and culture. Even more how, when we look “in the mirror” and find people who are “like us” in terms of culture and experiences, we see all Latino and immigrant’s life as our own which resonates a great deal of empathy and a feeling of “we are on the same boat” that make us feel like we are amongst fiends and family. This brings out our innate, cultural need, to protect our own. Well said.
