SHAH ALAM, 14 September 2025 — Seorang staf kolej kediaman Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) didakwa memaki seorang pelajar baharu yang baru sahaja pulih daripada kanser tahap empat, hanya kerana gagal mengumpul mata merit bagi permohonan kolej. Kejadian itu didedahkan oleh salah seorang pembaca Fajar Baru hari ini. Menurut maklumat, pihak atasan telah memberikan kebenaran kepada pelajar terbabit untuk tinggal di kolej, namun staf tersebut, yang merupakan Staf Residen Kolej (SRK), didakwa bertindak “melebih” dengan menghina pelajar berkenaan. Setakat ini, status tindakan tatatertib terhadap staf itu masih tidak diketahui, termasuklah kampus mana tempat dia bertugas. Ini bukan kali pertama pelajar meluahkan rasa tidak puas hati terhadap sikap kasar staf universiti tersebut. Antara yang sering dikaitkan dengan penghinaan terhadap pelajar ialah staf kolej dan anggota polis bantuan, terutamanya dalam urusan permohonan rayuan kolej kediaman. Beberapa tahun lalu, seorang pensyarah di universiti itu juga pernah tular kerana menghina pelajar B40, yang membentuk sebahagian besar populasi pelajar UiTM. Insiden ini sekali lagi mencerminkan sikap segelintir staf UiTM yang didakwa kurang berempati walaupun berkhidmat di sebuah universiti yang majoriti mahasiswanya datang daripada latar belakang kurang berkemampuan. Sebahagian pihak menggelar mereka sebagai “Napoleon Kecil”, individu yang berlagak sombong meskipun hanya memegang jawatan bawahan dalam organisasi. Isu berkaitan kolej kediaman di UiTM juga bukan perkara baharu. Sebelum ini, pelbagai rungutan timbul termasuk tuduhan kronisme, sistem pemilihan yang tidak telus, serta layanan kasar terhadap pelajar.

Rather, I hope this video becomes a small instrument, a voice, calling out those government officials who sit comfortably in their “Upuan” while people continue to suffer. We, us, want to be part of the growing chorus shouting for change, progress, and freedom from corrupt politicians. To the corrupt contractors of flood control projects: you are not just stealing money, you are stealing lives. Every peso you pocket is a home left underwater, a livelihood destroyed, and a child forced to wade through floodwaters instead of walking safely to school. The floods may subside, but the mark of your betrayal will never be erased. One day, the people will rise higher than the waters, and higher than your greed. I was the editor and director of this advocacy video. Honestly, I wasn’t confident about posting it because I’m not a professional in editing or video-making, so, I apologize in advance if it doesn’t meet your expectations. But my love for this country, and my concern for my fellow Filipinos, pushed me to share it.
