When I was a dance major & dancing professionally I tore my hip labrum. The first doctor I saw wanted to crack my pelvis & do a surgery that would immobilize me for 8 months before I could get a hip cast off. The second doctor? Worked with my city’s ballet co and treated it like a torn meniscus. I was back on stage in 3 months. When he asked how I hurt it, I said “oh I fell dancing” he said “no no, you were probably turning what turn, what position? Fouetté? A la secónd?” The understanding literally changed (and saved) my life

this is exactly why i want to be a pt specializing in dancers, our needs are wayyy different than some other patients, and that’s okay!

We were lucky to find a former professional dancer PT that really helped my daughter with a stress fracture!

Tore a ligament and the ER doctor said “if you can take a step on it you’re good it’s just sprained” I don’t think he’s ever met a dancer cause if I’m told to walk imma walk 🤣 was out for 5 months almost needed surgery

Me when my sports doctor told me my knee wont heal all the way so i have to quit wrestling. Like orrrr ill keep wrestling and tough it out bc im not quittting
