@anim.alterra: Little Bubba’s owners are from the same village where we recently helped a poor family save their puppies, the ones they first tried to abandon at our shelter. We showed them a better way, and they shared our number around the village, not knowing about the thousands of euros in debts we carry, or the sleepless nights we spend rescuing animals. They thought we were just helping for free... So when their neighbors’ puppy got sick, they gave them our number, saying: "They will help". Honestly, these people are poor and in our country, most in their situation would just dump a sick puppy in a garbage bag or leave him in a field. But they didn’t. They asked for help. Because they love Bubba. And how could we say no? We rushed Bubba to the hospital, where he became the first patient to have his blood tested on brand-new modern equipment. Within minutes, the diagnosis came: parvovirus and piroplasmosis. His chances of survival are very low… but we have to try. Yes, his owners are poor, but they care about him, and they will take good care of him if he survives.
