@judge.mimi: #stitch with @Dakota prep higher level vs elite lower level cheerleading team -> how to make the right decision? #cheerjudge #cheerleading #prepcheer #elitecheer #level1 #level2
My daughter moved to a prep team from elite due to the commitment level and managing training days and coparenting. I can wholeheartedly say my child is thriving and continuing to develop as an athlete within the prep environment. Athletes have YEARS to progress through levels and ages. One thing I appreciate is my child having experiences in different positions over the years and becoming an all round brilliant athlete.

Cheer coach and biz owner, and mom with 2 athletes at an elite level. Pending coaches were amazing and building the proper building blocks, I would go prep 2. Level doesn’t necessary matter, I care about the coaches, the athletes on the team and commitment level from all on the team. This sport is too expensive for the athletes and parents to not be 100% all in. Bottom line is prep isn’t that much less than elite pricing, so I’d rather just ensure my money is spent wisely.

After 2 seasons of novice my 8 years tried out for the first time and made a level 1 prep. She was so excited but I do hope she stays in prep for a while. She so young and has many years to advance if that’s what she wants to do.
