nice informative video. visited museum when a srn4 pilot was on board. he claimed on the last run to daedalus before retirement they gave it full throttle and hit 87 knts ?

Never travelled on one of these as a child as my parents weren’t one for travelling abroad. We did travel on a hovercraft to the Isle of Wight though. All I remember was it was very noisy.

I used to work for hoverspeed. But only on the seacats. But I watched these hovers every Saturday from the pier when I was fishing as a kid.

Sadly the "Chunnel" put paid to those lovely machines. Really safe craft, remember reading about one that hit an old WWII sea mine & it only slightly damaging its skirt.

In the 1980s are atc squadron built a hoover craft as we where miles from anywhere to fly. Closest thing we could get. Had fab fun help building it and piloting it . No idea if it survived.

my mother and father worked on this hovercraft just before they went out of service. My dad was an engine technician (i think) and my mother was a waitress. This is actually where they first met on that hovercraft.
