@uncle_ediks_pickles: Part 1 of our affordability series where we ask small business owners if mamdani’s policies will make nyc more afforable (or the opposite)! As a small business owner of a pickle factory in queens, mamdani’s policies hit too close to home and would devastate small businesses while skyrocketing prices. The poor on food stamps and ebt will have it the worst as their money comes from federal sources while their local city inflation will go through the roof. Vote Uncle Edik for mayor #nyc
Well that’s actually false. The higher the minimum wage, the more money the consumer has to spend it back into the economy lol. How is it that the cost of living as increased exponentially but the minimum wage doesn’t?

Why Socialism Is Not Good for New York
Socialism may sound compassionate in theory, but in a city like New York—diverse, fast-paced, and economically complex—it can quickly turn into a burden. When the government controls too much, innovation slows, small businesses suffer, and personal responsibility fades. High taxes to fund “free” services often drive away the very people and companies that keep the city thriving. New York needs opportunity, not dependency—freedom to grow, not systems that punish success.

He’s worked a total of THREE years in his 33 years of life prior to being elected. Yes he’s an expert of life all right. And of those 3 years his major job was given to him by mommy as a music supervisor for a movie she was directing.

A gradual increase is better executed than an instant increase. This is a good change, right now $26/h is a rate that MATCHES inflation, if we slowly increase it so by the time inflation reaches around the $30 mark, and the minimum wage is $30, all should go well.

If companies have to pay their employees $30/hr then the company will be forced to raise prices on product to be able to pay their employees and still make a profit. and this will trickle down from utilities to small business owners and districbution and gas everything will have to go up it seems I don’t get how I won’t

At a small grocery store payroll is probably 10% of their outlay. If that doubles, it doesn't mean that prices have to double, it means they go up like 10%. And the workers can afford to feed their children.

Don’t worry. The state/city run stores will sell everything cheaply and drive the local businesses under. Your local bodega won’t exist anymore…
