As a paediatric physical therapist this is equally hard for us. Kids cry when they see us but we have a common goal of wanting them to make progress. Hang on tight momma - it’s gonna be so worth it!

I once had a job as an aide to a little boy who was 7. I helped him at school become more independent in the classroom, his previous aide had mostly done things for him so he cried in frustration a lot. He is 20 now and he independently walks past my house every day walking his dog. It’s ok they get frustrated. You’re there for hugs.

I always tell parents to start getting comfortable with the uncomfortable because it will benefit them much more in the long run and increase their independence so much!!

I know it’s hard for you both but the hugs, kisses and love he gets after is what he’ll remember and then the benefits!! My God he’s getting so much stronger x

I had to take my son to PT and I can tell you he cried the first months, it was gut wrenching. He cried because it was uncomfortable and hard and hard work and he wasn’t even 2. But you’ll see the results, the therapy will open worlds to him; it takes time but he’ll eventually even enjoy his sessions at least some of the time. I feel you as a mother, and send you big hugs because it is so so so hard to hear them cry but let the therapy continue because you know its what’s best for him 💙💙💙

It’s worth it! My little has been doing therapies for three years, almost everyday of the week. He doesn’t cry now 😂 he just harasses the therapists. Our kids are tough. They can handle a lot. And it’s worth giving them the opportunity to shine down the road.

Going through the same now with my baby’s first PT intensive. It’s so hard even knowing that it’s for the best.

Look into CME. What DMI was practically stolen from. Sessions are slower, client focused, therapist take the time to build relationships with your kid. We finally got our son walking at 3 with CME.

It is so hard. As a mum you want to have them never know pain and sadness. To have them so little and not be able to fully understand the ‘why’ makes it harder. This is absolutely the right choice and future you is glad you did it. Your child will be so grateful too

PT/OT was the worst because you didn’t know why you had to do it. Now at 43 I’m just losing my mobility and loving adding a chair in for fitness.

As a PT I would work his protective reaction and how to stand up by himself before working on walking and standing balance. He will never walk by himself if he doesn't feel safe to do so without hurting himself when he'll loose balance.
