I come from a family of police, fire dept, and 1st responders….the sheriff’s dept never bothered to come to me and tell me about my son though. I got a phone call after I had to call them for verification. They didn’t bother to look me in the eyes. The deputy even decided that he should take his fishing vacation before completing his half-assed report on the crash that my son died in. After I had been calling for 2 weeks. My family is still on the job….I work in towing. I still respect yall. Some just aren’t as good as the rest. Sadly.

and those are just the big ones. they don’t tell you that you’ll go on calls to help someone with the same exact problems you’re dealing with at home. they don’t tell you that your biggest enemies are sometimes the people working right next to you. they don’t tell you that your conscience will be tested just bc you did your duty. it’s a tough job sometimes
