@chasseurdesons: The sound of a Field Grasshopper stridulating 🦗 While walking through a grassy area, I noticed a lot of Grasshoppers hidden among the vegetation. Their stridulations filled the air. I wanted to isolate the sound of a single Grasshopper. That meant being patient. First, I had to spot one actually stridulating, not as easy as it sounds. Then, I approached very slowly with my boom pole and small microphone to get as close as possible without startling it. This way, I managed to record a clear and precise recording of the stridulation. The species is probably the Field Grasshopper (Pseudochorthippus parallelus), commonly found in pastures and meadows. The sound, called stridulation, is produced by the Grasshopper rubbing its hind legs against its forewings. The last sound in the video is a slowed-down version of the stridulation, so we can listen closely to all its details... #nature #sound #Science #pourtoi #fyp
