The DNC sees those numbers and thinks “oh, it must be b/c Dem voters are unhappy b/c they want more conservative policies” And not, “oh, ppl really don’t want conservative policies and platforms and are unhappy with our Bush/Cheney2.0 vibe. He might take some of those wimpy "never Trump" republicans that just quietly support his policies but for the most part appealing to compromise and both sides leans towards liberals that are willing to give up everything for the sake of getting anything.
