I have engineering friends and this is particularly bad for them. Because the field almost across the board requires minimum of 2 years

Boomers aren’t retiring and they want experience for entry level bc they literally can’t train those positions anymore bc they’ve been so far removed from them

The most fulfilling way to get experience is to volunteer your skills, learned in college, at a non profit you believe in. A years worth of “i took my engineering skills and used them to solve issues at non profit x” is extremely valuable information that hiring managers will take into account when judging your character qnd motivation and proof of your application your skills to real world problems.

There is 100% mechanical engineering jobs - I’ve worked in the industry for years. But the younger generation believes “I’m not applying for a job under $100k” which is bananas.

I’ve been in automation engineering for almost 30 years, and currently use AI extensively, I can tell you this there will be no engineering jobs in 10 years. I am not sure how society will cope, but we must start talking UBI.
