Hey, you helped me a lot right now. I experienced the same thing; my squirrel friend hadn't come around in a while, and I was distraught. I have some abandonment trauma, and lately it's been exacerbated a ton, and I didn't even realize her missing was triggering that, but it makes a lot more sense now.
