i felt the same then i got it and it was fine, i took it out once it looked a little lower bec then if it ripped thru i wouldnt ever be able to repierce it

Smiley does not hurt at all. It's just a weird position and uncomfortable to pierce. I pierced mine 3 times. It ripped out once and I did it again got scared took it out and did it again. It's a really nice piercing but prone to rip or reject unfortunately, now I fear to ever get it again in case of that. I suggest if you ever do it to do a small curved bar it'll heal and stay in longer and be safer for certain foods but it defeats the purpose of the horseshoe.
