I resigned and was immediately put on garden leave, it was absolutely fantastic, paid for a month with nothing to do. On another point I personally hate it when people call it gardening leave.

I resigned and gave my 3 month notice and was placed on 3 months GL. Honestly it was absolutely great and o made them wait until the very last day before I gave back the company car 😂😂😂

My old boss was on Garden Leave. He resigned his role - he read in the park and chilled for 3 months. The employer wanted distance from them and the competition he was going too. He was totally fine with it. Certainly wasn't some big high alert - must watch out situation. It was literally garden leave.

I’m on gardening leave whilst they investigate 2 grievances against me. Both have no substance , one is clearly vexatious as came in 4 days after her friends one. I’m now worried as I genuinely have done nothing wrong but it’s been 4 weeks now- feel so isolated. They say it’s not a suspension as I’ve not done anything wrong- but the process feels odd.

About to come to the end of my 3-month garden leave and I loved every minute of it. 😊 Question: On LinkedIn, under Employment history, do you show the last day of actual work or do you include the garden leave?

You're essentially on standby though aren't you? They can ask you to restart work again if needed?

I was being managed out and negotiated myself a 6 months garden leave (over summer!) which was great as I was on a work visa so gave me plenty of time to look for another job and get my visa sorted on time. Was grand 😂

I think most people would love to go on garden leave, however I know I'd be forced to work my notice like every other job I've had.

It’s fairly common for people in senior, sensitive or roles with access to sensitive systems or information to be put on automatic gardening leave as soon as they hand in their notice or if they are being let go regardless of their actual contractual notice period. Which seems counterintuitive in some ways if you are a director and on a 9 or even 12 month notice period you are often on gardening leave for 6-12 months in many places from the large companies I’ve seen.

Can you be put on garden leave for your protection? i.e. you’ve raised a serious grievance against management and you are not safe to be at work whilst its investigated.

I feel like they’re doing it because I am awaiting my grievance outcome and I have had a failed phased return. Disability discrimination. Would it go against me i refused it?

Worked in recruitment for a while. This was used a lot in the late 90's, 2000's... And you absolutely know that person is using a pseudonym and working for the new business... 😳... Not on old clients, but guiding a new colleague to say 'Jim's starting with us shortly, he sends his best regards. Anything I can do to help in the meantime?' ... So many failed or empty legal threats!

I handed in my notice and was put on Garden leave apparently because they 'wanted the space to train my replacement'. I'd already handed my notice in.
