Lucid (he/him) :
people forget what autism actually is. it's not an excuse for bad behaviour, it's an actual condition.

Yeah it’s when parents put any sort of behavioural issue down to any form of diagnosis. No Karen, your child is just a tw*t and you haven’t parented them.

Yeah but…my kid is autistic and took 4 years for school to get in line. Sometimes parents know best. I agree some people try to palm their kids behaviour off on being on the spectrum but that’s not all of us. The fight as as a parent of a neurodivergent kid is really hard so please didn’t make a joke out of that ❤️

there is a family I know that was adamant their kids were all autistic, ADHD or both. Neither parent worked, they both fed the kids on a diet of sweets, their teeth were rotten and the school reported them to social services. After ignoring everything social services put forward the kids were taken into care. The latest update is that they have been tested whilst living with their foster parents and there is no ADHD and no autism at all.

Had a parent come to me and say ‘you teachers know nothing about adhd’ - love…… my diagnosis and 37 years of dealing with it beg to differ 😅

what about the diagnosis of having a child that is autistic and school don't help though. I tried saying he was just being a brat. Cahms went mad and said I didn't help.

Yep, there are 7 autistic kids in his year group. Half of them more severely than him, that's not the reason he's a tw*t

The worst is when they tell their children that their behaviour is because of whatever it is and so it's acceptable. Then they go into school and say, my mum says its ok because I have etc etc.

kids know the genuine ones. they let things slide that they wouldn't otherwise.in my son's case. his class mates nod and say we know

yes do agree there are alot of children that I think don't have this just because some parents can not be bothered to parent.

Whilst it’s funny (sort of), teachers actually don’t have the faintest idea about diagnostic criteria but yet try and tell parents and professionals when they feel a child has something. Realistically teachers can only tell when it’s glaringly obvious!

I said when my son was 2 he has dyslexia n was told I couldn't tell at that age. turns out I was correct n has really bad dyslexia. also said my step son has autism the 2nd time I met him as he got older 1 teacher said he has nout wrong with him turns out he has micro deletion proved with a genetic test. so not all mums say it for attention or whatever some parents can tell.
