@immdef: We will not stand by while our communities are terrorized. Our client Milagro is a long-time Los Angeles resident and was brutally detained in Sherman Oaks, CA. The agents, who refused to identify themselves or present a judicial warrant, threw her to the ground, laughed at her, and told her to shut up while she experienced injuries so severe she began to vomit and choke. For over eight hours Milagro was forced to sit in her own vomit while handcuffed. Eventually Milagro was taken to Dignity Health Glendale Memorial Hospital, but ICE remained nearby at first in her room, then outside her door, and eventually in the lobby. The constant surveillance by contracted ICE officers created a hostile and retraumatizing environment not only for Milagro, but also the hospital staff, other patients, and visiting family members. We call on Glendale Memorial to hold ICE accountable for providing the documentation necessary to justify the release of any health information about Milagro to their officers and agents and to continue to refuse ICE access to private areas unless they have a judicial warrant.
