That's because there is more value in trying to court the middle than the left, every vote they take from the middle is one vote they get and one vote they remove from the right. comparing this to the left where we historically only show up sometimes when we want to. They are making the decision to try to get the people they know for certain are going to vote rather than someone that may be convinced possibly to if they promise things that will alienate other potential voters. We (the left) are a minority position, and an unreliable minority at that. If we want leftist policies we have to run leftist politicians, the Democrats won't save us but they can certainly slow things from getting worse while we take over other positions within the government and try to build a unified coalition.

Its not even about conceding the arguement but accepting the framing. Republicans frame the issues with the economy on leeches within the social safety net taking money from hard working Americans. Instead of challenging that and saying "No, the problem is our social safety nets not providing enough due to low funding from the top 1%." They go "Yeah it IS, leeches in the system. But black single moms aren't the leeches, its the rural white Appalachians that are the leeches."

In 2024 the voters rewarded Trump and his policies. Too many people have accepted right wing narratives. Most White voters prefer right wing politics. This isn’t new. The Democratic Party has not won the national White vote since the passing of the Civil Rigts Act of 1964. Too many people are chosing right wing influencers as their main source of news. Consuming right wing disinformation 24/7 makes you nearly unreachable to leftist persuasion. Even videos such as this one are problematic. It’s very wimpy to complain about the Democratic Party when we have a right wing take over of all branches of government. Attacking the Dems doesn’t help in the fight against the extreme right, or help create a political alternative. It’s your job to make your politics relevant. Prove that you’re not a wimp by actually being effective politically.
