Always speak up for the vulnerable, voiceless, young, elderly, weaker whatever. But for sure when you see somebody showing negativity towards a child always always speak up.

Nope! You stood up for your friend and his son! Plus if you didnt record it the the fiance could of tried to play it off like oh you misheard me or we weren't talking about friends kid etc etc.. you did the right thing

as a step parent i can honestly say this is absolutely the right thing to do. kids should never ever feel like an inconvenience! and a child should never be required to live with an adult that doesn't love them unconditionally!
