It makes no sense to pass the ball from the side as that trajectory will NEVER happen. You always stand out in front of your student and to the side.

I like how she has somewhat of an open stance before driving. People always say start with a closed stance but in the pressure of the game it’s not possible

Most of the skill in a drive is about the balls current trajectory and what spin is already on the ball. The trainer should be rolling or hitting those from the other side of the court. These won't translate to real games effectively.
