@sylvanaquafarms: Saw @Will Westmoreland mention the Cosplay Cowgirl’s statement earlier today and almost couldn’t believe it. The dumbest collection of people in history are running this farce of a country 😂 #sylvanaquafarms #blackbirdcoop #immigration #maga #farmlife #farms #farmworkers #ice #massdeportation
The fact that anyone thinks farm work is unskilled labor is a big indicator of how far they are from the actual source of any of their food.

I’m sorry, I’m one of the people your discussing because I just told my son.. we have to go volunteer our time to a black farmer. Listening to you I can see that’s a bad idea!

Whenever I hear "unskilled labor, like farm workers" I always know it's someone who's never worked on a farm. Yes, hauling 1 bag of feed isn't a skill. But hauling 500, without splitting even one bag, to lose $ on its contents - IS a skill.

It seems like even though your heart wants to help new farmers learn it’s clear you have a lot of resentment built up. Maybe you consider offering a class/training once a month for these newbies and teach em some of the ropes in a controlled environment. That way you can still help these folks acquire new skills without also building a hard spot in your heart. Idk I’m a just dreamer

I am a female distiller. I have men walking in every day telling me how to do my job and what I can do better. I have twenty years of experience of making it. They have only drank it.

for me it's the "automation" line. like robots are going to come round people up? an algorithm is going to figure out who goes first? I completely agree with the skilled labor take, but hearing the Whitehouse talk like a tech bro is so terrifying

Do all these people who are on Medicaid live near these farms? Are they supposed to move themselves closer to the farms?

Farming is SKILLED labor. It’s not a hobby, it’s not a fun weekend project, it’s hard work that takes knowledge, experience, dedication, and a willingness to work under conditions that most people cannot physically handle, even people without any medical conditions. Day, after day, after day. No days off, no sick days, no mental health days, just unending skilled labor.

From what I understand, they tried this before. And it didn't work. Automation won't, either. Otherwise, it would've been automated by now.

It takes 24 months for people to get approved for disability. Minimum. So those people who are waiting for their approvals are going to carry the bags of feed? It’s just ridiculous.

I agree with all points and also need to point out that there not 34 million able bodied Americans on Medicaid. As of 2023, there were 26.1 million on Medicaid that were not disabled. Of the non-disabled, 64% were working. The vast majority of recipients are working or disabled.

he flat out Said what he was going to do. we are going to deport the illegals to make jobs for Americans. Just no one connected the dots or figured out what jobs he was making. plus since the Medicare people only can make 27k a year and with work requirements it drives down the price of labor making it affordable to manufacturer in the USA. so they are making a class of people in servitude to the government and there jobs, and can be treated however.

I did manual yardwork for a year after mostly working/training as a desk worker--not even farmwork, just yardwork--and I got an occupational injury and my doctor was like, you need to get a different job. Training and commitment and experience are vital to every industry. That we haven't been investing in farm workers, and instead have been relying on undocumented people who have to deal with the consequences themselves, is honestly morally reprehensible. Why isn't the government pouring money into training & paying & caring for people--no matter their citizenship--for the vital work of making sure our society is fed?

The thing is every state has a rule when it comes to Medicaid & food stamps they have to be employed to receive them in Georgia if you make over $500 a month you no longer get Medicaid a double edge sword. If you are unemployed, your children look continue to get food stamps. You might get $50 a piece a month for them and you’re informed of your car eating your kids food that you receive off of food stamps you will go to jail and/or lose the benefits.

Not to mention that getting hurt would be a great way to get out of doing the forced labor, so people would be incentivized to get hurt.
