@the.potential.dropout: 2 frameworks to fight perfectionism The perfectionist framework worries about every little detail, which kills your ability to prioritize and organize. Instead, use the minimum viable product framework or the "fix the things you need to work on" framework. You can stop being a perfectionist procrastinator today. ______ About this page, The Potential Dropout: Day in the life of an engineering student was originally started by The Potential Dropout (me) on TikTok as a vlog series in December of 2021, in my first semester of university as a mechanical engineering student. I was failing my Calculus class at that point. Little did I know the video resonated with so many overnight, making the series a viral one on the Internet. Ever since then, hundreds of episodes came out, and the series documented my evolution as a person and a student through this challenging, yet eventful academic journey that taught me priceless lessons and shaped me into who I am today. Despite my ironic name, the series' main purpose is to help other struggling students cope and navigate through their journey and encourage them to become a better version of themselves. The main message is to not give up, no matter the setbacks. I’ve been documenting everything, from all-nighters and moments of failure to lessons, growth, and personal wins. Since then, we've expanded to - Instagram (relatable STEM memes that I made or found), - YouTube (longer-form videos where I teach you courses and tips and tricks and offer mental health advice), - Discord (a community of over 11k members!), - PATREON, where I share you my notes and other resources that helped me survive through my courses at McGill. If you want to support me, it's there! I want, I can, I will. That’s my mindset and it’s allowed me to come back after dropping out of college

One of the most relatable videos I’ve ever seen. Experienced the same exact thing with thermo, solid mechanics, and dynamics as a civil eng major

my problem beside not having good discipline and being perfectionist is having awareness in the last moment were it's not worth it anymore like having exam in 5 days and then boom u have this energy but u procrastinate because it's not worth anymore because u can't finish everything in the last moment now u just freez in anxiety and regret

I am in the same hole too hahahah just because I forgot a little in integration I start to study math from the beginning 😂😂 thank you I will try your method and see i hope it's work

I have the same problem, it's OCD, like I know I shouldn't waste a lot of time on these insignificant details but I still do it and end up burned up and not being able to finish anything

I am studying mechanical engineering in Argentina, and I am starting fourth year in August. Being a perfectionist created me a lot of stress and chaos. One is always trying to understand the 100% of the theory and making the 100% of excercises in 5 hard subjects in simultaneos. Sadly, the day only has 24 hours, sometimes is just better to do things straight without knowing the 100% of the theory and just learn things in the course. I am so obsessed with learning every f**king detail before doing excercises in subjects like fluid mechanics, heat tranfer, finite elements etc. Unfortunately, its very time comsuming, the whole theory is just so f**king long and complex. Things must be done. I will try to change, but this perfectionist thing is so deep in my essence that is very hard to change. Somehow, I pass all my exams but without doing the sufficent practice problems. I have an average grade of 7.5/10. Sorry if my english is sh*t, I tried my best .

remember that project in nutshell is not something you do by yourself alone , regardless of what kind of project is that. yes theres top dogs :1 who already has experience and knows how to lead,2who finances and is core source of successful investments , but everyone else about 4-20 people are working on specific things that they pursued and specialise in. you cant physically learn anything 100% if that was the case there wouldnt be any jobs or extra people needed for anything. its just that at the start you have to learn something well or you should know basics of most things such as small projects like c++ (arduino circuit analysis) , simple to mediocre coding skills for newbie, just to understand how the system works, same with physics and business or anything you can think of, you cant play in world class league when you havent even done some workout, let alone playing on the streets. and trust me if you only do this for the money you will only go so far.
