one of my favourite tech products of the last ten years, Arc, is in this hole at the moment. they're VC funded and have made an elite tool for power users, one I'd happily pay for, but they're scrapping it because it can't become mainstream and deliver on investor pressure. now they're all in on a very half-baked AI product that won't hold its own against Google or OpenAI

It's so hard as an idea person and technical implementor knowing any idea that scales needs VC funding and will end up being enshittified. Probably encouraged to use AI these days too even if AI might be the thing that will kill your idea 2 years down the line.
