I talked to my teen who uses character ai about this case. he said he thinks that kid was "delulu" but I'm still wary

14 years old? Isn't that a little old to believe in play pretend? Where are the parents. If the company is sued the parents should also be charged. They're all responsible.

I am beyond tired of people CONSTANTLY blaming the victim or their guardians when it comes to internet safety. Put the blame where it ACTUALLY belongs!!

Why is this the AIs company fault?? WHO bought a smart phone for the MINOR child? WHO was responsible for monitoring the child’s phone? Do we not hold parents accountable anymore? I hope the parents lose, sorry. THEY are responsible for THEIR child

Interesting 🤨 this is something in AI called predictive behavior. It’s very dangerous. It sets a path out for the human based on arbitrary math which is accurate but it leads to unethical behavior. It doesn’t have a conscience to use these things. This needs to go legal. Amazing work!!

How is the app able to offer licensed products from all of these shows and movies as characters? No copyright concerns?

They should be able to sue for this terrible. I cannot believe that this company would think it’s OK to create something so dangerous.

where was any parental supervision? they just let their child loose online without any intervention or check ins...
so we're back to suing companies because of our own lack of control and moderation

Reminder that they tried to pass a law blocking states from creating their own AI laws in the big beautiful bill while there is no federal AI regulation. They don’t care about us, just money

First off 14 is far too young to even know about game of thrones second why is he on an app with out parents consent and knowing what he is doing. Third that AI company needs better safe guards and honestly parents need to parent instead of sticking a screen in their childs face to babysit

Good. Some Mental health professionals have been raising the alarms on this. Especially for those who have other issues and are in a psychosis or delusion and the bots reinforce the delusions

So stressful as a parent of a young boy and girl knowing what I will have to prepare them for. It’s already extremely complex to try to explain which videos are natural and which are digitally created or ai. It’s sad that our children will never have known what it is to just trust their eyes. And there absolutely MUST be regulations to protect users of ai.

👏👏👏👏👏👏👏 please keep an eye on these with AI. It’s scary. I’ve participated in the training models not for too long but it’s predictive behavior doesn’t have a fail safe.

Fascinating use of the product liability as a workaround to try and get this handled. Also, with it being in FL, which has a long history of public and precedence setting cases, this is an interesting one to follow.
