A FORGOTTEN SUNNAH - RELENTLESS OPTIMISM [3:139] Relentless optimism. A forgotten sunnah. Always looking for good — even when the world feels like it's falling apart. When news came that a united army — larger than anything Arabia had ever seen — was marching to annihilate the Muslims, the Prophet ﷺ and his companions began digging a trench around Madinah. This wasn’t just strategy. This was survival. An existential threat. Their lives. Their families. This entire religion — at stake. In that pressure. In that fear. They struck a boulder. Unmovable. Unbreakable. Even the strongest among them couldn’t shift it. So they called the Prophet ﷺ. He struck it — and a spark shot across the sky. “Allāhu Akbar! I see the palaces of Syria!” A second strike — another burst of light. “Allāhu Akbar! Persia is granted to me!” A third — the rock shattered. “Allāhu Akbar! I see the gates of Sana’a!” At the height of crisis… he ﷺ gave them glad tidings. Not fear. Not panic. But visions of victory. وَلَا تَهِنُوا وَلَا تَحْزَنُوا وَأَنتُمُ الْأَعْلَوْنَ إِن كُنتُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ “Do not lose heart. Do not grieve. You will have the upper hand — if you are true believers.” (Qur’an 3:139) This was his lens. This was his sunnah. At Badr — outnumbered and unarmed — he calmly walked the battlefield, marking where each enemy leader would fall. And they did. During hijrah — hunted by bounty killers — he promised Suraqah not safety… but the bracelets of the Persian king. Years later, Suraqah wore them. He ﷺdidn’t just hope. He knew. He saw divine promise… where others only saw despair. That’s the optimism we’ve lost. We think struggle means failure. He ﷺ saw it as the path to victory. He said: “There are no bad omens — only the good word (الفأل).” (Saḥīḥ al-Bukhārī) Even Prophet ʿĪsā ﷺ, passing a rotting carcass, said: “Look how white its teeth are.” It’s a lens. A choice. To hear good. To speak good. To expect good. And today — we live in an age of relentless darkness. Gaza’s genocide. Tyranny spreads. Prices soar. Hearts ache. But what sunnah will you follow? Will you fixate on the boulders in your path? Or will you see the palaces beyond them? Because the Prophet ﷺ didn’t just teach optimism. He struck the rock with it. Optimism is not naïve. It’s divine alignment. It’s believing that when all seems lost — Allah ﷻ is preparing your greatest victory. Allāhu Akbar. #RelentlessOptimism #SunnahMindset #PropheticLeadership #SeerahLessons #Quran
