Something else to think about too: in blue neighborhood they can sell pizza by the slice, you eat a couple slices and maybe you wander in the other shops, you notice upcoming community events, grab pastries for tomorrows breakfast.

I don’t get why all neighborhoods in America can be like the blue one, I’m from Europe and I can’t get how some people can’t live walking distance from almost all required services.

I love the blue neighborhood because it gives people options, they still have access to their own vehicles but everything they need is within walking distance so it incentivizes walking instead of making it the only option

I live in Norway and I live 3 min from the store. 6 from the bank. 15 from the hospital. 4 from the cinema and 5 from a shopping center on foot.

i dont get the concept of neighbourhoods, why would you make that instead of a dense walkable high density zone? flats are perfect, houses are a waste of space and time

spoke to a developer in my area, and they're vehemently opposed to the mixed use / people focused development because there's more permitting involved and they can't sell all of the buildings as easily. unchecked capitalism sucks for everyone

this US thing is so dystopian to me, why do you have an entire neighborhood with ONLY houses? you can't go to a bakery or to the supermarket in the morning to get bread? you have to drive miles at like 6 am??????
