I genuinely grew up thinking that having 4-5 days off every month due to my period was normal. The doctor told me it was normal to be in pain.As I got older, I realized that it wasn’t normal, and in fact, something wasn’t right; I just didn’t know what. I had to do my own research and reading; nobody told me any of this information. I had to figure everything out for myself.I’ve had to change my career path to allow me more flexibility, especially around my period, so I can have 2 to 3 days off every month without any implications for my career.I nearly didn’t graduate from my math degree because my symptoms impacted my attendance. But at the time, I didn’t have anything from the doctors to explain what was going on with me, so the university couldn’t do anything to help me. Without documentation and evidence from my doctor, my university didn’t accommodate me, and the same goes for young girls at school. They don’t have anything to explain that they have a women’s health condition, so most schools don’t believe them. That's why it’s so important for doctors to start listening to young girls and women. It’s time for them to start taking women’s health seriously. #endometriosis #womenshealthcare #girlssupportgirls #endometrosissymptoms #ChronicIllnessAwareness #menstrualcycle #endometrosis #chronicpain #pcos #hormonalimbalance #estrogrendominance #fyp #invisibledisability #relatable #SelfCare #wellnessgirl #dynamicdisability #hiddenillness #foryou #hiddendisabilities
