Developed by the Antonov Design Bureau in the Soviet Union during the 1980s, the An-124 was built to transport oversized and heavy military equipment, vehicles, and industrial cargo over long distances. It features a maximum payload capacity of around 150 tons, a nose that swings open for front loading, a rear cargo ramp, and a pressurized cargo hold. Powered by four massive turbofan engines, the An-124 has a range of approximately 4,800 km when fully loaded and can carry everything from tanks to space launch vehicles. Despite its size, it has proven relatively agile and reliable in both military and civilian heavy-lift operations.
