Direct acting hydraulic elevators are good for scenic cars and really tiny shafts. However, I do not see any reasonable explanation of why the lift consultant chose this type of lift for this big shaft… It was the real pain in the neck to drill the piston hole and get it installed. The site logistics should have been a nightmare for lift engineers

Those cylinders are single stage? I always figured they were telescoping. Does that mean they drill a 100ft hole in the ground for the hydraulic cylinder?

I just simply don't understand the use of hydraulic elevators over 2 stories. hoist elevator exist and are way cheaper

I've seen a Victaulic Fitting fail on a site once. I won't stand in the pit anymore. Worse part was the breaks didn't catch like they were supposed too. The oil covered the rails and the breaks just slipped. Absolute wrecked the Car.

I’m going to be honest I always thought it was a rope or cable and a winch at the top pulling it up not a hydraulic cylinder
