@taylorlrabe: Very rarely do I get the chance to observe wolves interacting with black bears. It’s pretty common to see the wolves and grizzly bears together feeding on carcasses, but not that often for black bears. This past spring, the wolves scavenged a young bison that had died of natural causes, and this large black bear came in to feast. The Junction Butte wolves *kindly* escorted the bear to the carcass, where it fed for multiple days. The wolves only gave the bear a couple of love bites on its hind end. Yellowstone is so unique in that we get to watch these interactions between large carnivores unfold, and then have the opportunity to share it with people from all over the world. #yellowstonewolves #wolvesofyellowstone #wolfvsbear #yellowstonenationalparkerupt #wolves
This makes me wonder if wolves actually adopted humans instead of the other way around. Oh you know how to hunt? And you know how to share your food? Cool, you are our buddy now.

The bear can tear into parts of the flesh easier than they can making it easier for all to eat

If only you watched the full clip. They bring it to an area that's their territory, to adults, and they all tear it apart

Noted that the bear chose the wolves. Wolves and bears safer than man.

That's super cool! I'm not sure if this is the reason, but makes me wonder if 1) it offers them potentially more protection to have the bear around and/or 2) the bear is less likely to attack them at any other time because it recognizes they will share food [and maybe share some of its own at a later time?]. Either way, this is why it's good to make friends! 😂😂😂

Every time I see an example of different species being “buddies” (in mutually beneficial relationships) it makes me so so happy. What if they bond? Animals have more mental capabilities than we know 🤷♀️

Sooooo what I’m seeing is a pack of wolves wondering if they can eat the bear and testing it out but I’m no expert 🤷🏻♀️

Was is Yellowstone last year—can confirm the bears and wolves seem to band together. Anytime we saw a bear, a wolf was then seen close by and vice versa. ❤️❤️
