I'll never forget nurses crying in front of my guy and me,he had terminal lung cancer and had a massive internal jugular vein thrombosis cuz oncology switched him from xeralto to eloquis for his chemo and keytruda infusions n never told us,clot formed and was inflating and deflating when he'd cough...should have been admitted for I blood thinners, but it was during COVID and they had no beds,so we got injections for at home I'd give in his stomach... radiation Dr cried while telling us (he was not very aware, obviously it was in his brain at that point) I was bawling sitting behind my Dan in a wheelchair, the doctor just kept apologizing, and holding Dan's hand saying he was so strong and he didn't deserve this, hospice was all we could do. he passed 5 days later only 55 years old and 6 months since diagnosis

I can only imagine how that would be for someone who has dedicated their lives to saving people's lives from cancer. Thank you for shouldering the burden for those of us that depend on you. My oncologist is the only reason I am here to write this comment. THANK YOU for what you do, and the price you pay to do it!!!

Appreciate you! I survived Ovarian Cancer bc I have Crohn’s. CT scan for a Crohn’s showed a mass in right ovary. Messed up but Grateful. Also Chron’s sucks big time. How normal is it that I fear I’m going to get Cancer again? That’s the hardest to overcome. Love your content.

I can only imagine. It’s also a painful reality for us care takers. Lost my mom a month ago after being told there is nothing else they can do 😢😔

My daughter was 19 when diagnosed with stage 3 malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumor. Her oncologist was amazing. Him and the nurses cried with us. Luckily his surgical skills are also amazing. She's been NED for three years now 💜

Chemo and radiotherapy saved my life and killed my life at the same time. It permanently disabled me and left me with life long medical issues which I’m still seeking care for. I’m thankful I’m alive but I grieve the life I’ve lost

Hospice RN here. Just know that when modern medicine doesn’t work or someone has had enough referring to Hospice is the gift of support for EOL. You nor I can change things but we can try to make things the best they can be for our patients and families. Sending you strength to persevere!

If nothing they’ve offered is getting the result they desire, why be so eager to dismiss alternatives.

Stage IV here.....during one of my early conversations with my oncologist I told her that when my time comes it is not because of her failure. Every living thing dies. Dying is not failing. ♥️

My parents are aging. They have serious health conditions. I’m forever grateful for their doctors and care teams for knowing that life will end sometime for all of us, but together we can make it a good journey and satisfying ending.

It is so hard to say goodbye and I have always felt bad for the Drs who have to tell us enough is enough. That we had to now say goodbye. I cannot imagine being the person who had to deliver that news repeatedly. Thank you for caring.

from the patient perspective here.. some of us understand it isn't your fault or ours..we understand how stubborn cancer can be especially late stage and refractory (resistant to treatment). some day hopefully all cancer can be understood and cured

Sometimes it’s just plain luck. No rhyme or reason to why some make it & some don’t.

I’m a cancer survivor. I recently had an abnormal biopsy, my oncologist told me not to worry, that’s his job. I try to remind myself that it’s draining on everyone. Grateful for people like who why genuinely care. It’s all hard 💙
