I spent a year trying to teach my dog shake, she would do everything EXCEPT try to use her paw. We rescued another pup who came with shake pre-installed and our first dog after seeing it ONCE was like oh I can do that too

My border collie is like this too, which has been great because she has an older sister who is really well trained, and now I also have a border collie who knows all the important basics just from watching my other dog.
