I decided that I would probably never have another chance to talk to him and, while they were serving dessert, I went to his seat. I introduced myself, said the classic “I’m a big fan, man”, and he just started talking to me as if I were the most interesting person in the world. We talked for more than 10 minutes, me standing in the hallway, he was eating an ice cream. I talked about Matrix, John Wick, about music. He said he would like to make more Wick movies, if his age allowed, and I said he was better than me. Keanu then asked what I did and, at one point, I commented that I was a writer. Didn’t the guy pick up his cell phone to see the books I had written? I commented that I had just published a new one and that I had an author’s copy in my backpack, I showed him O Sítio and the guy apologized because he couldn’t read Portuguese, but he freaked out the big head in the illustrations, especially in Emilia (look @pedroivob_!), he said he was working with a Brazilian illustrator in a comic and asked more about the story. I didn’t think twice, I took a pen, signed it and said it was a gift, for him to put on the shelf. Keanu asked if I didn’t need him to approve changes and such and I said it had already been published, and he thanked me as if I had given the coolest thing in the world. And that was it, I shook his hand again and let the guy go back to the trip in peace.
