Also close your curtains the amount of heat that escapes through the windows is unbelievable.

FYI spotlight have electric throws that are larger than a queen bed and super fluffy. So much snugglier. They also time out so if you fall asleep it will turn itself off. $90

It's my sister's first winter in Australia (my 7th) and she kept getting sick and saying how cold she was at night. I kinda brushed it off and was like "yeah that's kind of the way it is" and I taught her how to maximise heat by letting the cold out, got her an oodie, a heated blanket, and an oil heater. realised last week that there is a massive DRAFT coming in from a bad window directly above her head. I felt so bad 😅

if you have an aircon the heat mode is 3-5x as efficient as a space heater.

you need an oil heater, close curtain as soon as sun goes down & use towels on doors for draughts

get the heated throw from kmart, my partner did the maths and apparently for 10 hours of use it only costs like 30c. it's been a lifesaver for us this year, haven't brought a heater out once

Babe get a gas heater from Bunnings. They don’t make your power go up as much, & you can set them at different temps

a 2000W heater will use 2kWh or 2 “units” of electricity each hour, so 48kWh per day if on all the time. I don’t know what your power charges are, but lets say 30c/kWh. That’d be $14.40 per day. However, they’re usually thermostatically controlled, so won’t be churning out heat at 2kW constantly - if it is on say 25% of the time and off 75% of the time, that’d be $3.60 per day.

if you aren't insulated, the heat goes right out of the room and needs to use more power to hear again
